Running your quiz night

Everything you need, in plain English. You run the whole thing from your phone — no laptop, no telly, no faff.

The short version: once a week, open your host link, read out the code, and tap Next question your way through. That's it.

How it works each week

Every week a brand-new quiz lands in your library, already written and checked. You run one quiz a week, on whatever night suits you. Nothing to print, nothing to prepare — just turn up and press go.

On the night

Five taps and you're away.

  1. Open your host page

    Tap your host link (it's in your welcome email — bookmark it so it's one tap every week). Your quiz for the week loads automatically.

  2. Tell the room how to join

    A big 4-digit code and a square QR code appear on your screen. Say it out loud:

    “Grab your phones — scan the square code on my screen, or go to quiztache.com/play and pop in 1234.”

    No app to download. Teams type a name and they're in — you'll see them appear.

  3. Start the quiz

    When enough teams are in, tap Next question. The first question shows on everyone's phone with a countdown.

  4. Reveal, then carry on

    When the timer runs out, tap Reveal answer — the right answer lights up green on every phone.

    Then tap Next question for the next one. Keep going through the round.

  5. End of a round → next round

    After the last question in a round, tap Leaderboard to show the standings, then Next round to move on.

    Repeat until the end. The final Next round shows the winner. 🏆

What each button does

Next questionStarts the next question (and starts your very first one).
Reveal answerShows the correct answer and how everyone voted.
LeaderboardShows the current standings — use it at the end of each round.
Next roundMoves to the next round (or, at the very end, the final result).
ResetWipes all scores to start the night over. You'll be asked to confirm.
Close roomEnds the night and shuts the room. Do this when you're finished.

Don't worry — the screen tells you what to tap next at every step, so you can't get lost.

If something goes sideways

My phone died / I closed the tab mid-quiz

No problem — just open your host link again. The quiz picks up exactly where you left off, with every score intact.

A team's phone dropped out

They just go back to quiztache.com/play, type the same code and the same team name, and they're back with their score.

Can I run a different quiz, or a second one this week?

You get one fresh quiz a week — that's the deal. Your host page always loads the current week's. A new one unlocks every Monday. (You can re-open the current one anytime, e.g. if you had to stop and restart.)

Do I need a TV or projector?

Nope. Everything — questions, timer, answers, leaderboard — is on your customers' own phones. If you happen to have a big screen, you can put your host page on it too, but it's a nice-to-have, not a must.

How many teams can play?

Up to around 50 teams a night — plenty for a busy pub.
